Automated Domainname management

As Registration Service Provider (RSP) you may use various Root NIC's (DNS.BE, EURid, SIDN..etc) which each make use of their own systems for administration of the domainname data. To efficiently manage all this data it is required to use another (central) system.

The Clientpanel Domainname package is an excellent system for this task.

For efficient management of information related to domainname registrations automation is a must. The Clientpanel Domainname module is specially designed for administering and automating the processes related to the whole domainname life-cycle. Find below an diagram of some of the information flows which this module can handle automaticly.

Practical solutions

This module is the result of years of experience in the world of domainname registrations. Together with providers, end-users and beta-testers we expand and improve the system to fit new requirements. This has lead to a package of practical solutions for domainname management of which some are described on this page.

Managing domainnames will become an easier job with this module. Domainname contacts can login and access all the related domainnames without any efforts of a helpdesk / sales team. Clients can order new domainnames through the system allowing your sales desk to be open 24 hours a day. This module will relieve your staff of informing clients as the information about their domainnames, registration date and status can be called upon in seconds.

Automated Renewal Reminder

This is a seperated script which is run at a prefered interval (default is every 24 hours). It compiles a list of domainnames that expire and emails it to the reseller or client. The compiled list will only be sent if there are domainnames listed to expire, if not then no email will be sent. The following dates are used as expiry reminder dates;

• the current date (Deletion reminder)
• over 1,2,3,4,5 and 15 days
• 1,2 and 3 months

Find below an example of a renewal reminder that is sent to the billing client contact. Remember that these are templates that can be customised, and that the domainnames,URL and contact data are dynamicly parsed.

Renewal selection page

To renew domainnames clients can login to the clientpanel and access the Renewal selection pages. On these pages the domainnames that expire in the next 3 months are listed. For each domainname the client can confirm or decline (multiple) renewals, for renewals the registration period can be stated as from 1 to 10 years.

After submission the renewal selection will be processed, domainname records will be updated to reflect the client his/her decision and an email will be sent to his / her salescontact to complete the renewal.

Renewal confirmation request

To have a client confirm / decline for a specific domainname a renewal confirmation request can be sent to his / het email address. This request contains an activation code with which the client can confirm / decline the renwal through the Renewal confirmation page (see below). The Renewal confirmation request can easily be sent by clicking the apropiate link on the details page of a Domainname records.

When clients receive a renewal confirmation request then can browse to a public page on your clientpanel website address. On the confirmation page clients can enter the activation code after which the decision can be selected (confirm /decline). After submitting the decision is processed and the salescontact will be notified for further processing.

Automated removal and renewal

Automatic removal

The reminder system processes the expired domainnames by setting their status to Expired or Removed. After the expiration of a domainname there is usually a Redemption period in which the domainname can be renewed. This redemption period differs per extension and can be customized using an index file.

Automatic renewal

For domainnames of which auto-renewal is selected the pre-billing mechanism signals the sales contact and customer. This pre-billing period is by default 30 days. For the creditted and trusted customers the renewal is executed in instantly providing that there is sufficient credit or quota. If the Sales module is installed then the billing will be completed automaticly.

Daily status notification

To keep view on the domainname situations a daily notification message is compiled and sent to the default sales contact. This message contains ;

• the domainnames for which a reminder message was sent
• the domainnames which are to expire today
• the domainnames which are expired and pending deletion
• the domainnames which are automaticly renewed.

Supported RSP / DRS Providers / TLD's

The included DRS modules currently support the following DRS / RSP systems and events;

*1 Person domainnames on the .nl TLD (eg. beerlings.721.nl) are not yet supported.
*2 Not all extentions are supported for the transfer process
* auto means that the whole process is automated. semi means that part of that process requires manual input.

* The RSP / Registrar accounts are NOT included in this package. These are to be aquired seperately.

Automated notifications

During the process notifications will be sent to a combination of contacts to keep all parties properly informed about the progress. Notifications are also available as part of the domainname history and comment fields. The notifications will be sent at the following moments;

• On start of the process
  • to the (registrar) salescontact
  • to the technical contact
• On failure during the process
  • to the (registrar) salescontact
  • to the technical contact
• On succesful completion of the process
  • to the (registrar) salescontact
  • to the technical contact
  • to the billing contact (reseller if any)
  • to the owner (registrant) contact

DNS Console module

This DNS Console module supports various instructions for managing the DNS zone files on the server(s). Using this module one can access a webserver for to create (or alter) a domainname in the DNS. The following instructions are supported;

*) The included root scripts are based on BIND8 definitions. These scripts can be altered in full to fit other DNS definitions. A version for DirectAdmin is also available.
